Kristiansund BK cannot use Flamur Kastrati until December 5.

This was stated by the NFF in a press release on Friday afternoon.

The background is that Flamur Kastrati called Vålerenga coach Dag-Eilev Fagermo “sweeper” in the elite league game between Vålerenga and Kristiansund BK on 25 October.

In the break interview with Eurosport a few minutes later, an annoyed Kastrati confirmed that he used those words.

After the game, however, he claimed that he did not know what the term meant. The NFF disciplinary committee has assumed that there are reasonable doubts as to whether Kastrati understood the meaning of the term he used.

The Disciplinary Committee assumes that the term “sweeper” will normally be perceived as a derogatory statement about a gay man. Therefore, the term falls within Law § 11-5 (5) letter f of the NFF, which prohibits making statements “in connection with combat or training that is appropriate to threaten, insult or mock a person about the basis of […] sexual orientation.

The Disciplinary Committee assumes that there are reasonable doubts as to whether the player has made a real error regarding the term “sweeper” normally perceived as a derogatory expression related to a person’s sexual orientation. The Disciplinary Committee cannot rule out that in the environment in which Kastrati has grown up, it is generally understood that the term in question has meant something in the direction of “idiot” or “nonsense”, and that therefore he has had no reason to believe otherwise. . The disciplinary committee assumes, therefore, that the degree of guilt shown is low in terms of the derogatory meaning of the term, ”the sentence affirms.

Therefore, Kastrati must be in charge of the elite series matches against Bodø / Glimt, Molde, Mjøndalen and Strømsgodset. He is ineligible to play before the away game with Sarpsborg 08 on 5 December.

The NFF also reports that Sandnes Ulf’s player Johannes Andres Hummelvoll Nunez will also be quarantined for three matches for using the same word in the obosliga match against Åsane on October 17.

The disciplinary committee was not aware of the Núñez case until the player himself defended Kastrati on social networks.
