The transition saga between Bodø / Glimt and Kasper Junker (27) is over: the Dane is ready for Japanese football.

The Bodø / Glimt star forward is set for Japanese club Urawa Red Diamonds. This is confirmed by Bodø / Glimt in a press release.

The club writes in the press release that on Monday night they accepted an offer from the Japanese club and that Junker now agrees with Urawa Red Diamonds on personal terms.

– Those who know me know that I have had a great desire to try myself in Asia, and especially in Japan. Urawa is a great club and it is a good step for me. They challenge me, I step out of my comfort zone and develop further, Junker says.

The Dane scored 27 goals in the Elite Series last year and became the top scorer of the season that ended with Bodø / Glimt’s first league gold.

– When everything comes from afar, we can all remember the fantastic year we had last year. My team and I were involved in writing history. That’s what matters, Junker says.

– I did exactly the right thing to go to Glimt and unleash the potential that was in me. For that, I want to thank the coaches and the rest of the team. Glimt is incredibly adept at developing offensive players. We should be able to say that I am a good proof of that, says Junker.

Several clubs have taken an interest in Junker this winter and Bodø / Glimt, according to information from VG, turned down an offer from the Serie A club Crotone.

– We want to thank Kasper for his contribution in 2020 and wish him luck in his new club. The timing of the transfer is basically not optimal for the club, but now we will spend our energy on what awaits us. We have previously shown that we can emerge stronger from demanding situations and we are confident that we will be well equipped for the start of the series and a new season. For us, it will always be about development and those in the club at all times, says Bodø / Glimt General Manager Frode Thomassen.

New dispute between Junker and Glimt: – I can’t be here anymore

The conflict between Junker and last year’s league champion flared up again when the Dane left the club’s training ground in Spanish Marbella on Sunday night.

– I can’t be here anymore, he told Avisa Nordland when he left the player’s hotel.

The next day, Glimt confirmed that Junker had left after the club rejected an offer from a Japanese club and at the same time wrote that it was not relevant to sell the 27-year-old now so close to the start of the series. Now it ends with sales anyway.

After being silent for more than a day, Junker told VG on Tuesday that “further clarification of the saga would come soon.”

The Danish forward has since January expressed his desire to leave the club, but so far Glimt has not approved any of the various offers that have been put forward. It has now been sold, and with only former Rosenborg player Erik Botheim a healthy forward in the squad, the club will likely have to go on the hunt for a forward before the start of the season.

Last week, last year’s top scorer showed he’s fit: when Glimt crushed Spanish Atlético Sanluqueño 11-1 in a training match broadcast on VG, he scored a hat trick:
