The US presidential election was as smooth as many feared. Now voters on both sides are left with an unpleasant feeling and fear for the future.
It may be a long time before the dispute over who will become the new president of the United States is resolved. The case may have to go through legal proceedings. Voters on both sides of a polarized America are preparing for the future.
– I can’t turn on the news, I don’t feel good at all. I feel like we have lost our country. “I don’t know if anything will ever be the same again,” said Tammy Lewandowski, a Donald Trump supporter in Milwaukee.
He fears that a Joe Biden victory will provoke violence, riots and conditions of lawlessness.
Sentiment is also not good among all Biden voters, although on Wednesday it seemed increasingly headed toward a Biden victory.
From red wine to tequila
In the Detroit suburb of Bloomfield Hills, the women’s group Fems for Dems had met. While watching the news broadcasts early Wednesday, some suggested that they replace the red wine with tequila.
Despite heading for a Biden victory, they did not get what they wanted: a clear election result in which the United States faced Trump.
– I honestly think I’m going to have a heart attack before this is over. I’m afraid to say it out loud, but the possibility of us getting the victory we wanted is elusive, says Denice Asbell.

Anxiety about the future
His 13-year-old daughter, Rhegan Stallworth, says that thinking ahead in a country where many don’t understand each other evokes anxiety.
“It’s like putting your life in the hands of a nation that doesn’t trust you,” Stallworth said.
The Trump camp has already gone to court in Pennsylvania, where the AP met with actors Jason Klemm on the street Wednesday morning. He had filled his 7/11 coffee mug with vodka to calm his nerves after sitting all night hoping to get a Biden win.
– He wanted a miracle last night, but it didn’t happen, he says.

– Don’t shoot people
But as Biden supporters despair that there will be no victory in a landslide election, Trump supporters are preparing to see their president leave the White House.
Jim Green, 73, of Wisconsin, says he still believes in a Trump victory but fears otherwise. When a neighbor arrived, the AP heard an exchange of words that speaks to the insecurity that many in the United States now feel.
– I’m completely upset about this, said the neighbor.
“Yeah, just don’t go buy a gun and shoot people,” Green replied. (© NTB)
