Tottenham secured promotion from the group stage of the Europa League on Thursday. However, Mourinho had a disastrous appearance.
With 3-3 away from LASK Linz, the white jerseys secured a place among the top two in Group J, before in the next round they face Simen Juklerød’s Antwerp in the battle for first place.
At Thursday’s post-deal press conference, however, it was a slightly bitter Mourinho who lined up, when he accused some of the players of lack of motivation.

– They feel like they shouldn’t be there
– Some individual players had good performances, while some had very bad performances.
– I have the feeling, that it is not really a feeling but based on previous experiences, that some of the players feel that they should not be there. The opposite of them are players like Son and Højbjerg, who start every game, and are examples of guys who, no matter where and in what tournament, really represent the team.
Without the two profiles, the Portuguese believes that it could quickly be difficult to get a good result on Thursday.
– Without them, I don’t think we would have had a positive result, he added.

Noted difference in heating
According to the Spurs coach, not all players are motivated by an away game in the Europa League in Austria or Bulgaria, two of the countries the London club has visited in the autumn.
– The point is that the Europa League group stage match does not motivate more players, I knew that.
Among other things, the Portuguese noticed a big difference between the LASK players and the Spurs before Thursday’s game.
– When I saw the warm-up before the game, I had a feeling and told the players that there was a big difference in intensity, communication and enthusiasm in LASK’s warm-up compared to ours.

Compared to time at United
That made the Spurs manager draw similarities to his time as a manager at Manchester United.
– I think it is a question of attitudes, something that I have also experienced before.
– Even at Manchester United, I had a similar situation when we lost two away games in the group stage, and then we ended up meeting better opponents in the knockout rounds.
On Sunday night, Tottenham host archrival Arsenal in the Premier League.
With the victory, Mourinho’s crew will in all probability remain at the top of the table. The Gunners, on the other hand, rely more on points to keep up with the best teams, as they are 14th at the time of writing, 8 points behind Sunday’s opponent.
