British author John le Carré, whose real name was David John Moore Cornwell, passed away this Saturday. He turned 89, the family confirmed to The Guardian on Sunday night.
– We are all deeply saddened by his death, the family wrote in a statement.
Le Carré leaves behind four children, including author Nick Harkaway.
Agent Curtis Brown tells Sky News that the perpetrator died in Cornwall, south-west England, on Saturday after a brief illness. Death is not related to covid-19.
His former agent, Jonny Geller, describes him as “an undisputed giant of English literature.”
– I have lost a mentor, an inspiration and most importantly, a friend, says in a statement to the newspaper.

Several known works
Le Carré is known for his espionage novels. He had previously admitted to the British newspaper The Times that he has a past in espionage. He began writing books when he was working for the British Foreign Service in the 1960s, but under the assumed name of John le Carré.
Books such as “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”, “The Spy Who Came in from the Cold” and “Night Manager” were the best sellers worldwide. His latest book, “Agent Running in the Field,” was published in 2019 and received rave reviews on Dagbladet.
The spy author has received several awards for his work.
Several books were filmed
Several of his works have also been filmed, both for film and television.
These include “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”, directed by Gary Oldman, received three Oscar nominations.
Pierce Brosnan starred in the movie based on the book “The Panama Tailor” and Ralph Fiennes was seen in “Constant Gardener”.
