Jan Åge Fjørtoft on Erling Braut Haaland: –

When Erling Braut Haaland trotted off the field after a 1-2 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday night, something happened that rarely happens to the young Norwegian.

After being on fire before the national team halftime, he went goalless from the field in all three international matches Norway played last week. This means that he has already played four games without signing on the scorers list.

Jan Åge Fjørtoft believes that this gives the German press water at the mill.

– I think the German press can now change a bit. I think Erling handles everything that happens around him well now, but clearly it will be easier for the German press to deal with him, says Fjørtoft in Viasat’s studio after the match.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt player continues:

– People can say that there will be too much noise around him and that he will not score enough goals if this continues. It will be the price to pay when you replace “King Messi” and “King Ronaldo,” he says.

The 20-year-old from Jæren has scored 21 goals in 26 Bundesliga games this season. The winner of Saturday’s game, Adrien Silva, stands out with 22 goals, while Robert Lewandowski has scored an incredible 35 goals.

Fjørtoft believes that Borussia Dortmund must take into account what Haaland has meant to the club.

– It is he who has shot them to the position they are in now. Without his goal, it would have been a relegation battle, but someone else would probably have scored some of the goals, says Fjørtoft in the studio.

In the 21st minute, Haaland had a fantastic chance to reply, but his shot went harmlessly into the side net of the goal. Jærbuen was played through, but with his right leg put the shot out.

Not long after, he started playing again. Usually so clinical Haaland got the ball at eight meters, but the Frankfurt goalkeeper followed with a parade of legs.

– Another gigantic opportunity that is burning, exclaimed Lars Tjærnås de Viasat.

A few minutes after the break, Haaland again had a great opportunity. From an oblique angle, the Norwegian didn’t get a proper turn at the end and put it aside for goals.

Thus, the 20-year-old finished goalless off the field in the Borussia Dortmund match after all the sun brands could not afford to lose.

Dortmund is now seven points ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt, which is in fourth place, the last place to lead to the Champions League next season.
