Jakob Ingebrigtsen: – Top victory

Jakob was superior in the 1500m field in Brussels on Friday, taking the victory that neither the Filip brothers nor Henrik have achieved in the Diamond League, but he missed with the big goal tonight.

The 19-year-old ran in mid-August at a European record of 1500 meters with a time of 3.28.68.

Without Kenyan Timothy Cheruiyot at the start, Ingebrigtsen was the clear favorite on the 1500m course in Brussels. He also brought with him three hares, which would set the pace to beat his own European record.

Ingebrigtsen had a long way to go to break his own record, but he stiffened at the end, where he had to run the last lap alone, and finished with a time of 3.30.70. Four seconds better than number two.

– Cannon time again, said NRK commentator Jann Post after the race.

It was the first time in his career that the Sandnes boy fell below the “dream limit” at 3.30. An achievement that none of his brothers has achieved. Filip Ingebrigtsen himself was close in Monaco, when he scored at 3.30.35.

– This was fun. It’s the first time I’ve ever won such a race, Ingebrigtsen told NRK and continues:

– It was tough from the beginning, and I’ll probably have to have more around me when the opening is so tough. Anyway, this was a lot of fun. It’s funny that we had a chance for a few races despite covid-19.
