Farm owner Kurt Mosvold will go for review after what he describes as a “dangerous” robbery in Kristiansand with up to 200 cars on Friday night.

– It was gossip and havoc. They almost drove on the tires so the sparks stayed. Someone sent fireworks. It’s just vandalism, Morten Finstad, chairman of the board of the Avenyen trade association, tells VG.

Late on Maundy Thursday, a large crowd of motorists gathered in a parking lot at the Avenyen shopping park on the outskirts of downtown Kristiansand. The police finally intervened to end the meeting.

– It started with some cars in the 17th century. The actual meeting began at 6 p.m. It was quiet until just after eight. At eight thirty I called the police to check me out. A quarter of an hour later and I called again. They then sent help and were on site for an hour before calling in reinforcements to end the meeting, Finstad says.

Fædrelandsvennen was the first to mention the case.

Frank Salvesen, operations manager in the Agder police district, informed the newspaper that there were talk of 150-200 cars at the scene.

It was quite hectic when we went out, Salvesen told Fædrelandsvennen.

It is unclear if the robbery meeting has any responsible organizer, and VG has failed to get any of the participants to speak.

Scorched rubber throughout the area

An image Finstad sent from the area on Saturday morning shows big marks after Thursday’s meeting.

– There is scorched rubber all over the area. We had to have a caretaker to sweep and clean. He filled four shopping carts with trash, Finstad says.

He says they are on video surveillance of what he describes as “the worst.”

– I definitely hope we review the worst two or three. So we are talking about those who destroy and do what we call vandalism, says Finstad.

Finstad emphasizes to VG that there was a minority of those present who engaged in acts of vandalism, and also reacts to the fact that infection control rules were generally not followed.

According to the crown rules in Kristiansand, only 20 people can attend private outdoor events.

– How was the behavior of those present?

– The police report was that when they were asked to leave the area, it was exemplary behavior. Surprisingly little shit was thrown at them. Most people understand that it’s not okay to do that on private property, but they keep showing up because they’re curious, Finstad says.

– Are you afraid there will be more meetings of this type in the future?

– There is no doubt that the thieves are planning more meetings of this type in the future. We were upset all summer of last year and have spent a lot of resources trying to limit this, says Finstad.

Alert review

Kurt Mosvold is the largest agricultural owner in the area. Confirm that they will report more after Thursday’s meeting.

– We understand that young people want to have fun, but this cannot be allowed at all. It is vandalism and it is dangerous. It’s pretty sure it will lead to revisions, Mosvold says.

He says they will watch surveillance camera videos after Easter to see who and how many they will report.

– If nothing is done about it, the problem will persist. I hope the police act, says Mosvold.

He says that the owners of the farm have been in dialogue with the police and representatives of the thieves in the past, where they have tried to find places where they are allowed to participate in the robbery.

“Unfortunately, we see that the result has not been optimal,” says Mosvold.

The Agder Police District did not respond to VG’s questions about the case on Saturday.
