Recently, NRK presented a case with this title: “Trøndelag with the lowest corona infection in the country, this is how they have done it.”
Health Director Bjørn Guldvog praised infection tracking in the county and the European Infection Control Agency (ECDC) announced that Trøndelag was the only green zone on the European map.
Now, two and a half weeks later, the situation has completely changed. The situation of the crown is confusing in several places.
– The development in Trøndelag recently, only shows how quickly the infection can spread, says the county doctor in Trøndelag, Jan Vaage.
Not just Trondheim
Trøndelag moves up the Norwegian infection scale. Now only Innlandet, Telemark and Vestfold and Oslo and Viken have more infection. In a European context, Norway currently has a low infection pressure.
Vaage says they have long feared a boom in December.
– There is a significantly greater movement in the population now: more social, more action in stores, more performances. And we are not done yet. There is still a lot of activity in the stores and sociability is ahead of us.
Two weeks ago, an infection broke out in Trondheim. And two of the municipalities infected in recent days are neighboring municipalities Stjørdal and Malvik.
– But lately we have seen many local outbreaks in other municipalities, and not only in neighboring municipalities. It’s no longer just Trondheim who leads, says Vaage.
Hitra does not have an overview
Corona infection is confusing on the island of Hitra. The municipality has not been able to trace the infection, and on Saturday it was decided that all schools, kindergartens and other municipal services will remain closed until after Christmas.
On Sunday, a bandage order was entered.
On Sunday, seven other people received a positive response to the corona test. Several infected people will connect to Hitra’s largest company, Lerøy Midt.
– It is not clear to us where we have the source of infection. We have more and more people with proven infection, says Hitra Municipality Mayor Ole Laurits Haugen (Labor).
– Many employees now work to track, isolate and quarantine. We hope to have an overview and get the situation under control as soon as possible, says Haugen.
The neighboring island, Frøya, is also behind the closure of schools, extracurricular clubs and kindergartens.
Infection continues to increase in Rennebu
Further southeast in Trøndelag in Rennebu, the infection has only increased and increased in the last week. Two people were confirmed to be infected over the weekend. One of them works at the Rennebu health center.
– This person is a very good example of how important it is to be in quarantine when you are in quarantine, says Mayor Ola Øie (Labor).
The person tested negative for the first time this week, but had yet to be quarantined. The new test after two days showed that the person is still infected with the coronavirus.
Øie gets the impression that the career building is serious about the quarantine obligation now.
– But at the beginning of this outbreak, we got some messages that people were not taking quarantine seriously. Then we had to go out and remind people how important it is to comply with the quarantine obligation.
Asked for help and got a massive response
The infection in the Rennebu nursing home has put many employees out of work.
Earlier this week, Mayor Øie had to go out and ask outside health professionals for help turning the wheels at Christmas.
He is shocked by the answer. By Friday, 42 people had contacted.
In addition, the municipalities of Oppdal, Tynset and Orkland have made employees available.
– It is overwhelming to see that people want to come and help us. I’ve run out of superlatives. “I think it’s absolutely fantastic that people show up,” Øie says.
You know there is turmoil elsewhere as well.
– It is not just us in Rennebu who are fighting, although it is a bit more hectic for us right now. The response we have received shows that people are turning up in crisis.
Even more infected in a nursing home in Trondheim
The Charlottenlund Health and Wellness Center has an ongoing outbreak. They have entered a restraining order until New Year’s Eve.
On Sunday, an employee and a resident were diagnosed with Covid-19.
These were diagnosed with a new test and are in addition to the five residents who tested positive just before the weekend.
One of them is admitted to St. Olav Hospital.
The rest have mild to moderate symptoms and are isolated in their rooms. This also applies to the sixth resident.
The employee who has tested positive has no symptoms.
– I’m very impressed with the way the employees have mastered this, and not least the way the residents have taken it, says the unit manager at the Charlottenlund health and wellness center, Asbjørn Strømmen.
The reevaluation of residents and employees continues.
