Sylvi Listhaug has started several of the negotiation meetings with the government parties in the Storting calling on the Liberal Party and the Christian People’s Party to give the FRP victories by reducing the number of refugees from the quota or cutting the development aid budget.
But Listhaug has not complied with their demands, 2 sources with knowledge of the negotiations inform TV.
Snus fee cuts
On Saturday, party leaders took over from negotiators at the Storting, and on Sunday, FRP leader Siv Jensen met at the Prime Minister’s Office (SMK) to negotiate with the party leader and the First Minister Erna Solberg (H), the party leader and Education Minister Guri Melby (V) and the party leader and children. and the Minister of the Family Kjell Ingolf Ropstad (KrF) directly.
Based on TV 2’s experience, the negotiations have so far moved to more than NOK 5 billion, compared to the Conservative / Left / KrF government’s budget proposal for 2021.
One of the most important demands of FRP has been a sharp reduction in taxes on popular goods in cross-border trade, such as taxes on alcohol.
The FRP has succeeded in cutting the sugar tax, the non-alcoholic beverage tax and the packaging tax, but so far not a single crown has been cut in alcohol taxes.
In addition, the government parties have agreed to significant cuts in the snus tax, according to TV 2 sources.
Distributor despite “blocked situation”
The FRP has also failed to persuade the government to reduce the number of refugees in the quota or to reduce the development assistance budget to less than 1 percent of gross national income, according to TV 2 sources.
The fiscal policy spokespersons of the four parties have been negotiating since November 9, that is, two weeks ago.
FRP leader Siv Jensen called a press conference in the hallway of the Storting on Monday to say she believes the negotiations are “very stalled”. However, Jensen also acknowledged that negotiations continue normally, and TV 2 knows that the parties are planning a new meeting on Tuesday.
– We are stuck in several important areas. But I hope the government parties are now working well and will contact me when they agree, Siv Jensen said at a press conference on Monday.
– But, did you experience in yesterday’s meeting that there is a will to agree?
– I’m not going to comment on that, Jensen replied.
Sylvi Listhaug has not responded to TV 2 inquiries.
