At times, there was a very broad atmosphere during the SIAN celebration in central Oslo on Saturday.

The police inform TV 2 that 29 people have been arrested so far, including several minors. At the same time, they are looking for more people.

When SIAN member Fanny Bråten took out a Koran and began to tear it up, it set the minds of several counter-protesters on fire.

– In relation to that, there were many who tried to cross the fences. Some made it and were taken care of by the police, police task leader Torgeir Brenden tells TV 2.

– Also, there were so many people on one flank who tried, that we had to use a little gas to target them, he adds.

Turned into tear gas

Maiken Veberg (14) was among the counter-protesters who were hit by tear gas.

– I became tear gas because we were very close, and then there were some old men who shook the railing and then came several times with tear gas. We tried to say that we were 14-year-olds and that we could at least be allowed to retire, but there was no place for that, he says.

– How did it feel to have the gas on your face?

– I was itching, and then it happened that I couldn’t breathe. It felt like everything stopped. My eyes were itchy and I couldn’t walk, and my lungs felt like they were collapsing, so I was shaking, he says.

The 14-year-old says she believes it is cowardice for the police to use tear gas.

– I understand that it gets out of control, but they know that there are a lot of young people here and that they may have to think a little about their ages, he says.

– Have you received help from health professionals or have you handled yourself?

– I have very good friends here, and then there were several who asked if they did well and helped me, she says.

Four arrested

Police were forced to finish marking shortly before 3 p.m.

– Police were forced to stop marking SIAN towards the end, simply out of danger to life and health. There was a relatively large amount of stones, iron bars and other dangerous objects thrown at the police, and also due to the danger of the situation getting even worse, we decided to finish the marking now, Brend told TV 2 after the completion of the marked.

Brenden says there is zero tolerance for attacks on the police. She says that the police have a lot of documentation of what happened on Saturday.

Police arrested four people in connection with the marking.

– There were three people who managed to jump the fences and tried to hit the scoreboard for SIAN. These were detained by the police. In addition, we have arrested one person for sedition, to try to get more people to break through the police barricades, says the task chief.
