Sp breathes Labor on the neck in various measures. But the party’s leader, Trygve Slagsvold Vedum, will not answer if he is the party’s prime minister candidate. There is too much personal focus, he says. On Friday night, take part in NRK’s ”New Again.”
Several county leaders in Sp are now openly saying in Aftenposten that they want Trygve Slagsvold Vedum as prime minister in a new government based on the Labor / SP Party.
In a poll in Dagbladet on Thursday, there is a tie in an imaginary prime minister’s match between Vedum and Labor leader Jonas Gahr Støre.
Of those voters who say they want to vote for SV, Ap or Senterpartiet, 49% say Trygve Slagsvold Vedum should become prime minister, while 48% prefer Støre in the Dagbladet poll.

So VG asked Trygve Slagsvold Vedum this question on Friday afternoon:
– Are you the candidate for Prime Minister of Spain?
– I think it’s okay to take it easy now. This is just a measure, responds the leader of SP.
– Several of the Sp county leaders want the party to demand the prime minister if it becomes bigger than the Labor Party in a red-green majority?
– I think it is important to discuss political issues. I think there is too much discussion about positions, but party leaders come and go while people’s everyday problems persist. We want debate on the issues that are most important to Norway.

– This is a game discussion that I don’t want to get into.

– Do your county leaders believe that Spain should have a candidate for prime minister?
– But they also say that the issues are the most important.
– Yes, but they also ask you to decide if you want the highest position of trust in Norwegian politics.
– The second highest. The President of the Storting is the tallest.
– OK. The second highest. But why wouldn’t he run for prime minister?
– Because the whole discussion is media driven.

– Is it okay for you that the biggest duels in Norwegian politics are between Erna Solberg and Jonas Gahr Støre, but without you?
– It’s not that bad, really. The most important thing is to meet people. But the Prime Minister and I are probably the ones who disagree the most. On many issues, the Labor Party and the Conservative Party agree, as they did with the police reform, while the Socialist People’s Party represents the alternative. Then I notice that Erna Solberg feels uncomfortable when we ask her questions about why she has centralized Norway, as she has.
– If you say that you are the candidate for Prime Minister of Sp, won’t you give more time to debate with Prime Minister Erna Solberg?
– The most important thing is to pose problems. There is too much focus on Solberg, Støre, Vedum and Jensen. Due to social media and online newspapers, he is increasingly focusing on people.
– Didn’t you contribute to it yourself?
– At least I try to stop what I can.
– On Friday night you participate in NRK’s ”New Again” with a million viewers. Do you think it is to dampen the person’s concentration?
– It’s part of politics. And I think it’s kind of fun to do that once in a while. Participating in such settings can help make contact with me more secure. That threshold can be too high if you only pose on shows like “El Debate.”

– I really appreciate that people come and take small and big things with me when I’m traveling.
– OK. But if the Socialist People’s Party does not want the post of prime minister, what is the highest position it will demand in any government negotiation with the Labor Party?
– Solitaire is not interesting. Those are the problems. The Council of State clique is point number two. It’s scary to make up for it beforehand.
– Can you justify why you do not want to answer yes or no to the main question?
– How I responded instead: There are some measures now. So now is the time to take it easy and work through the issues. It’s not just about people.
