– The infection is too high. Everything is too loud. The rise that we have seen in recent days is worrying. There are reasons to take it very seriously.
This is what Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen writes in a Facebook post on Saturday afternoon.
On Saturday, Denmark set a new infection record. Partly due to technical problems, which means more cases were counted, but the infection is still very high.
The latest figures show that 2,115 people have been infected in 30 hours.
Increase and increase
Since mid-October, the number of new cases of infection in Denmark has increased considerably.
On October 18, 459 new cases were registered in the country, while on December 2, 1762 new cases were registered, the summary of infections for Danish TV 2 programs.
This means that the number of new cases of infection has almost quadrupled in a month and a half.
As of Saturday, 279 people are hospitalized, representing a decrease of 14 hospitalized since Friday.
In the last 24 hours there have been 11 new deaths from corona. In total, the country, which has half a million more inhabitants than Norway, has recorded 878 coronavirus-related deaths. In Norway, the number of deaths is 355.
See you later?
Frederiksen writes that the numbers are a clear message to go the extra mile to reduce infection.
– First of all, we must meet fewer people, to make it easier to break the many chains of infection, write and continue:
– We have to think: will we see each other? And not only how are we going to be seen? I know it is difficult this Christmas season, but it is very crucial.
Furthermore, he writes that they “seriously consider” whether further fine-tuning is necessary.
– We must have better infection control before Christmas, he writes.
