Culture Minister Abid Raja (V) was in the municipality of Rauma today to visit the recording of “Mission Impossible” based in Åndalsnes.
There, the minister took a tour of the film set and met with superstar Tom Cruise. An agreement that was not certain would happen, the culture minister told Dagbladet on Tuesday morning.
– I don’t know if we’ll find it. “We have done a corona test, and it must first show that we are healthy,” said Raja, who was transported to a test container yesterday where he had to go through a “very unpleasant” session.
Cruise: – Thank you very much
The test was, fortunately, negative and Raja had a long-awaited chat with the actor. According to TV 2 Cruise confirms that they want to return for the next film in the series and ends by thanking the Norwegian people.
– I just want you to know that it is a great privilege to be here. I speak not only on my behalf, but on the entire film crew. The people are absolutely amazing. Thank you very much, Cruise says to Raja in the video clip that TV 2 has received.
When Raja asks if he likes Norway, Cruise responds.
– If we like Norway? No, we love Norway.
Government funding
Raja was invited on a set visit to see how a large-scale movie recording works. According to the minister, he wanted to discuss film policy with Cruise, who leaves NOK 200 million in this country during August and September. The recording receives NOK 50 million in support through the film incentive scheme.

Try Corona before the cruise meeting
– a cool boy
As you know, this is not the first time that Raja and Cruise have spoken together. They had a long talk together this summer that Raja also filmed and sent to VG.
– I’m not here for a selfie with Cruise. I am working and talking about film politics. He seems to be a cool guy and we had a good conversation so I hope to continue it, Raja told Dagbladet on Tuesday morning.
Raja has been personally involved in bringing production of the superstar to Norway. This summer, he helped Cruise with national changes to both government covid-19 regulations and entry regulations, so that star actors and film workers were able to travel here to make action films, without being quarantined or risk closing borders.
