This year has been a very special one with strict restrictions, but 86-year-old Shirley Bottolfsen from Bodø is still wearing a mask and tracksuit with logos.
From his permanent place at Glasshuset in the center of Bodø, he has also been with his gun this year.
It has been doing this since the 90’s.
– I have noticed well that there are many who have had it more difficult this year. There are people who have lost their jobs and are now suffering, says Shirley Bottolfsen seriously.
She is originally from Ireland, but has lived in Bodø for much of her life.
A dream
On Saturday he had to check his account. There are many who give small tips to “Shirley’s campaign”, but it was a payment that made her close her eyes.
Because suddenly there was a transfer of 70,000 crowns.
When he saw who the sender was, he had to take one more look.
– I was completely shocked. At first I thought it was a dream, but then I realized it was true, says Shirley Bottolfsen.
The bank statement said Alexander Sørloth was the sender.
He only knows one Alexander Sørloth, and he was the soccer player who came to Bodø / Glimt on loan from Rosenborg in 2015.
To be absolutely sure that he was the right person, she contacted Gøran Sørloth, Alexander’s father, who in turn connected them.
– I spoke to him by phone from Germany. He really has a big heart. This is the first time someone has invested so much money in my campaign, says Shirley Bottolfsen with energy.
She is fantastic!
– He told me he was a big fan of what I was doing, she says.
Alexander Sørloth confirms to TV 2 that he and his girlfriend Lena Selnes have transferred the money.
– It is absolutely amazing! We have followed their efforts through Facebook for many years, says Alexander Sørloth by phone from Germany.
She remembers Shirley and her gay man as part of Glasshuset when he played for Bodø / Glimt.
One of the Bodø / Glimt teammates, Sarek Valentin, even lived in a bedroom in the 86-year-old’s basement, recalls Sørloth.
Miss Bodø
– He has a great heart that helps many, says Sørloth before continuing:
– I miss Bodø, because that’s where my career really began. So it was really nice meeting Patrick Berg and Jens Petter Hauge on the national team this fall, says Sørloth.
– We will return to Bodø, shouts her boyfriend Lena Selnes in the background. She is from Vesterålen in Nordland.
– Do you usually give money to charities?
– In recent years, we have made a contribution to various good causes, and since I lived in Bodø, we have followed what Shirley has done and we know that money benefits many, says Alexander Sørloth.
Help many
Shirley Bottolfsen promises that the money will benefit many.
– I bought 140 gift cards for five hundred crowns at a grocery store in Bodø. I’ll distribute them to those who need them most, says Shirley Bottolfsen.
This Christmas is sad for many.
– There is a great need for help and it is so special this year. Not only here in Bodø. I have sent a pleasant surprise to the residents of the refugee reception centers in Sjøvegan, Melbu and Setermoen, says the 86-year-old.
He has already wrapped 60 gifts for the inmates of Bodø Prison. 80 packages have been organized for the BamseB organization, which organizes a pleasant holiday experience for young people with bad advice.
As if that were not enough, all the employees, patients and families of the Bodø hospital receive a little greeting from Shirley.
– a good boy
In addition, 25 teddy bears have been purchased for everyone born in Bodø hospital this Christmas.
– I’m just a little sparrow in Bodø who likes to help and spread joy, he says.
The biggest Christmas present was given to him by soccer pro Alexander Sørloth and his boyfriend Lena Selnes.
– Alexander is a good boy and has a big heart. I’ll remember it for a long time, says Shirley Bottolfsen, who has a few busy days before Christmas.
