I was locked up

On the morning of October 9 last year, she was on the bottom floor, while the man worked and worked on the top floor.

– Then suddenly I hear a scream. An absolutely terrible scream. I have never heard such a scream. I was furious.

Inside the son’s room, she sees the man standing on the son, about to strangle him.

– I grab him (man, ed.) And I think I’m chasing him. I kick, hit and scream, but he dominates me and grabs me.

Also, they take her to another bedroom.

– He said “I will kill myself and Oscar and me” and then closed the door.

Since the defendant had stripped the window, balcony door and fireplace adjacent to the room, it took time and he had to ask a neighbor for help to get out.

– torments me

The 45-year-old defendant in the case on Tuesday explained that he planned to kill the son and himself after the 15-year-old mother learned that he had allegedly sexually abused the son.

“One of the things that bothers me the most is that he, who was my closest for so many years, could expose our son to something like that,” said the mother, now separated from her husband, in court on Wednesday.

Among other things, he reacted to the defendants’ presentation of how the abuses should have occurred.

– It’s never a child’s fault. An adult man knows this. It is the adult’s responsibility to know that they just don’t, she says.

Don’t regret the murder

Initially, the mother said her son had faced challenges with hurt feelings and aggression.

– We knew before adopting that children who have had a difficult start in life may face some additional challenges. He was born prematurely, was born with abscesses, and had a troubled start in life. He had been deprived of his birth mother very early and we knew such things could be harmful, says the mother in court.

Oscar André was adopted from Colombia when he was a year and a half. Back then, her name was Julie Andrea.

The mother says she wondered if the difficult start to life was the cause of her son’s many hurt feelings.

“In retrospect, I think he was sexually abused, but I didn’t know it then,” he continues.

The boy’s father pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter when the trial began Tuesday. He also confessed to sexually assaulting the son and said he did not regret the murder.

– I have been in meetings with child welfare, with school, with health care and child welfare and all the time I have had someone who has met … It is absolutely difficult to think and manage, says the woman of some 40 years.

The father also said that the reason he committed the murder was because he believed that the other family members would improve.

I do not get it. Who might think it would be better for us later. But choose it, take your life. I will never understand, says his mother.
