Various profiles of elite leagues believe there is a hidden corona infection within the clubs. They fear it will be difficult to finish the Elite Series before Christmas.
– Many people do not have many symptoms and feel healthy and pleasant without necessarily being. I definitely think it is, says Christian Gauseth of a possible hidden infection in last week’s issue of the “Spillerrådet” podcast.
Players are only tested if they feel symptoms and report wanting to be tested. Other than that, there is no fixed testing regimen on the Elite Series. Gauseth has the support of his teammate Markus Nakkim in the sense that not all crown cases are collected.

– I definitely think there are a lot of dark numbers in the Elite Series. If you don’t test and people don’t have symptoms, it goes without saying that there can be a lot of infections. If we had tried each other once a week it would have been something else. I have not been tested yet because I have had no symptoms. This is how the system works so I won’t worry about whether it is the best form or not, says the Mjøndalen midfielder to VG.
Mjøndalen, who is four points behind ranked Strømsgodset, plays an extremely important away match against Haugesund in the elite round of Wednesday’s series.
There have been an increasing number of coronary heart disease cases in Norway’s two main divisions in recent weeks. Several clubs in the OBOS league have been affected by infections and have postponed matches. On Saturday, Odds Fredrik Nordkvelle tested positive for coronavirus. Three new cases of infection were confirmed in Odd on Monday.
On Tuesday, NRK announced that the NFF sent a recommendation to the Eliteserien and 1st division clubs to consider isolating the teams.
– This is going to go wrong, for us too, predicts Gauseth on the podcast.
– You are not tested unless you have clear symptoms or play in Europe. So there is very little evidence. This makes me think that it is a hidden infection, continues the captain of Mjøndalen.
NFF has been open about the challenges the virus creates and has taken action by moving rounds of the series. Matches planned closer to Christmas have been pushed back in time to create a safety net in case of new infections and in hopes of closing the division before Christmas. Now the last round of the series will be played on December 22.

Gauseth crosses his fingers but is skeptical if it works.
– We just need to fail, then the Christmas celebration ends. Then there will be training sessions and games in 2021. I think we are on our way, all the signs indicate it. New cases are popping up everywhere, he says.
NFF has announced that the final qualifying match, for the 2021 Elite Series games, can be played at Christmas time at the earliest.
Emil Bohinen says it “could have been an idea” with more frequent testing, but Stabæk’s profile trusts the system.
– It’s scary to see how easily it is spread. I trust the rules and that everyone does what they have to do to stay away from other people as much as possible. There are coincidences that can cause things to go wrong towards the end here now, but we can hope that no one else is infected, the 21-year-old tells VG.
Various cases of infection can make it impossible to complete the Elite Series before Christmas.
It has been most contagious in the OBOS league, with several cases in Kongsvinger, Åsane and Jerv. At level two, several of the players depend on working or studying together, and are forced to leave the cohort to a greater extent.
Nakkim believes that players have done what is required of them in a demanding situation, but that it can be difficult to separate from the rest of society for several months in a row.
– You go to train, you go home and stay almost always inside. For me it is time for exams, and it is not so bad at the moment, but for others it may be worse. More people live alone and are not from Norway once, so it is more difficult to live like we do now, says Nakkim, who studies psychology.
