One person was pronounced dead after falling down a slope in Ringerike on Saturday night, the Southeast Police District writes on Twitter.
The deceased is a man in his 20s and is said to have been traveling with several friends when the incident occurred, according to Ringerikes Blad. Around 11.30pm, someone from the tour group is said to have called the police after losing his friend.
– Probably the man went to urinate and fell down a steep slope or ravine. An accident, simply put, said operations manager Marianne Mørch in the southeastern Ringerikes Blad police district last night.
The incident took place in the Mørkgonga Nature Reserve, which is a popular hiking destination. The last part of the trip goes through a steep gorge.
– While the comrades have us on the line, they find the missing person, says Mørch.
A Seaking helicopter was ordered to arrive at the scene, but the man’s life could not be saved. The police are in the process of notifying his relatives.
