Search teams contacted the grouse hunter in his 40s, who was missing on Sørøya in Finnmark, on Sunday evening.

Finnmark police report to NTB at 3 o’clock on Sunday night.

– It was stuffy, cold and wet. Now they’ll bring it down the mountain, says operations manager Gunnar Øvergård in the Finnmark police district.

He says there are poor communication conditions in the area and little mobile phone coverage, which has made the search difficult.

Police and volunteer teams from the Red Cross, Norwegian rescue dogs and Norwegian People’s Aid have been involved in the search for the man, who went hunting at 2pm on Saturday afternoon. He was reported missing around 9:30 pm on Saturday night.

The weather in the area is very bad until Sunday night and it has not been possible to apply by plane or helicopter. On Sunday morning, the hunter met with his relatives.

– The hunter has come down from the mountain and has met with relatives. Police would like to thank the Red Cross, NRH, Norwegian People’s Aid, Rescue Society, Boreal and the Coast Guard for their assistance and cooperation in relation to the rescue mission, police wrote on Twitter.
