How the kidnapping intention in the Hagen case spoke about business cooperation – NRK Norway – Summary of news from different parts of the country

The man was first charged with murder or complicity in the murder of Anne-Elisabeth Hagen. After being questioned by the police, the charges against him were changed to assist in the severe deprivation of liberty.

As NRK previously stated, the man accused of crypto interest in his 30s and Tom Hagen had several meetings together, where the man would enter into a collaboration. The garden owns 70 percent of the Elkraft power company. The company had sales of NOK 2.9 billion in 2018.

A source close to Tom Hagen says the meetings have been well known among those who work with him, but that there was never any collaboration.

– Open door

It must have happened relatively frequently that unknown people came to Hagen’s office in the Futurum building to discuss the plans they wanted to bring to the billionaire.

– In many ways, it has been an open door for people who want to talk. The garden is open and inquisitive, and he would like to have new impulses, he tells NRK.

The source estimates that the now-accused man has been in the office seven or eight times, but Hagen did not necessarily have time to meet him each time.

It should have been pretty clear that Hagen never invested millions in a bitcoin factory.

– Talk to people who come when you have time. But having said that: it is something completely different to be open and curious than investing money in something. He seldom gets business outside of this.

He talked about collaboration

Correspondence NRK sits down, shows that the man in his 30s contacted several people with cryptographic knowledge and told him about the plans he had. In the messages, he indicated that he would cooperate with other interested parties in crypto.

In messages NRK has seen, he spoke of an impending crypto collaboration with a large Norwegian power company.

This is what the now-loaded 30-year-old man wrote to a cryptocurrency in the spring of 2018.

In cryptographic terminology, the term “whale” is used to refer to people who have a lot of capital. Police have confirmed that cryptocurrency has been an issue in interrogations with the two defendants.

The man in his 30s should also have been interviewed by police at an earlier stage in the case, long before he was arrested.

I wanted to recover cryptocurrencies

The accused man in his 30s contacted crypto experts through discussion forums and online groups.

The correspondence does not mention Tom Hagen or his companies by name, but the man in his 30s describes the partner as “the owner of one of Norway’s largest energy companies.”

In reports, he writes that he is interested in working with others who know a lot about cryptocurrencies.

In the message exchanges that NRK has seen, he admits that he personally is not the one who knows the most about the required technology, but rather that he has a good network of contacts.

When NRK first contacted the two cryptocurrencies last week, neither of them had been contacted or questioned by police about the case.

Reject criminal charges

Cryptocurrency has been a central topic in the investigation since Anne-Elisabeth Hagen went missing on October 31, 2018.

Inside the house in Sloraveien was a letter with instructions that the ransom would be paid in the highly anonymous monero cryptocurrency.

– Hagen understands the macro image, that is, what a cryptocurrency is in a general perspective, but does not understand how it really works, says a source close to Hagen.

According to the police, the man’s arrest was accelerated after the Eidsivating Court of Appeal decided to release the murder victim Tom Hagen (70).

After the NRK is informed by various sources, it should not have become part of the collaboration between Hagen and the accused man. Police do not want to comment on this or any other information about the two.

Criminal acts discussed

Since 2010, the man in his 30s has run several different small IT companies. The companies have been registered abroad and in Norway.

In an online forum, he has discussed the use of cryptocurrency as an anonymous and untraceable form of payment in connection with criminal acts.

In one post, he specifically mentions kidnapping. The post was released after the disappearance case was made public.

His advocate, Dag Svensson, tells NRK that he does not want to comment on the matter, but that his client wonders about his police allegation.
