The travel group with retirees who were on a bus trip stayed at the hotel from September 20-21. The hotel was notified of the outbreak on September 22 and then began taking infection detection measures.

– Nine employees who worked during the relevant time period were quarantined and screened. Three of these test results have come back positive, says hotel manager Arnstein Birkeland in a press release.

– All rooms, common areas and the rest of the property are thoroughly washed. To be safe, we have chosen to close the hotel until October 1, he adds.

Quarantined after visits to cafes

According to the hotel, there were few other guests in the period in question. These and the guests who have lived there since have been notified of the outbreak.

The second infection control measure is now being introduced in the Kvam municipality, reports NRK.

On Thursday afternoon, the Etne municipality reported that 25 people have been quarantined as a result of the bus tour group stopping at a cafe in Åkrafjordtunet earlier this week, NRK writes.

Schools are closed

Among other things, the upper secondary school is closed for a week and all employees are required to have a home office. A class at the Norheimsund school and a department at the Norheimsund kindergarten will also be closed until Monday.

Among the travel group of 40, 33 passengers have been confirmed to be infected. The bus left on September 15 for the six-day trip from Jæren.

The pensioners visited six accommodation establishments on the trip that took them through Eastern Norway, Dovre and Western Norway.
