Spanish police made a sensational discovery on Friday this week. A huge pot of drugs was seized, on land!

The nine-meter-long homemade boat was found in a factory in the city of Malaga, in southern Spain, according to the BBC. The submarine must be designed to carry two tons of drugs.

However, according to police, the submarine was never launched.

The police raided five European countries in a large-scale Europol operation. Large quantities of drugs were seized and 52 people were arrested in the coordinated operation.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the police have seized 400 kilos of cocaine and large quantities of hashish. A drug lab was also discovered in the operation.

The drug ship was also discovered in this operation.

The BBC writes that police believe the submarine, which is constructed of fiberglass and plywood, is primed for drug smuggling. It was to be equipped with two 200 hp engines.

Police have a theory that the submarine must have sailed to Spain from Colombia. Drug canisters have previously been used to transport drugs from Colombia to the Caribbean and the United States.
