In total, five players tested positive after the outbreak on the national soccer team.

The other players were quarantined, but the foreign professionals were allowed to fly home. With them, they were encouraged to stay in quarantine, but the players mostly ended up playing for their club teams.

One of those who has played is Erling Braut Haaland, who has scored six goals in two games for Dortmund in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.

Experts Pay Tribute To Haaland: – Completely Unique To Witness

The Minister of Health and Sanitary Services, Bent Høie, believes that the star forward could, in the worst case, end up infecting his Dortmund teammates.

– Has been lucky. Several of his colleagues were infected. If he had been infected himself, and there is no guarantee of that, even if he has been tested, then in that situation he could have infected others and contribute to several on his team receiving a positive test and not being able to play. Fortunately, that didn’t happen and of course I’m happy about that, but it shows how important the rules we have in Norway are, he tells TV 2.

– Very proud

– Now there are no Norwegian rules that apply in Germany, but do you think it is irresponsible to go back so quickly after being in close contact with an infected person?

Erling Braut Haaland’s incredible new Champions League record

– I am concerned that you follow the rules we have in Norway, when you are in Norway. I’m glad we were very clear on that. If not, the consequences would have been great. The experiences of this round show only one thing, and that is how important and correct these rules are and that it is important that everyone in quarantine relate to it. Even if you have a negative test, there is no guarantee that you are not infected. I think this story has helped many people open their eyes to the importance of the quarantine rules that we have in Norway, says Høie.

And if you look at it from a purely sporting point of view, Høie is of course very satisfied with the enormous success of the coalition in Dortmund.

– I am very proud. It’s amazing that Bryne can bring out that kind of soccer talent. I know his father, he was also a great talent, but here it seems that the son is even better. That’s great, smiles the Minister of Health and Care Services.

– I don’t want to be a troubled country

As previously mentioned by TV 2, the European Football Association (UEFA) described Norway in a letter to the NFF as “one of the most problematic countries” when it comes to hosting matches.

The strict infection rules have created challenges, but the fact that UEFA complains does not affect the Minister of Health and Sanitary Services.

– We do not want to be a problem country, but we want to be a country that has rules and advice related to this situation, which means that we achieve what is our goal: to take care of the most vulnerable in society and avoid having waves of infection that they drastically affect people’s work and the country’s economy. That’s our starting point, Høie says.
