The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued a yellow warning for wind gusts in Oslo, Viken, Vestfold and Telemark and Agder. In some areas, there can also be up to four inches of fresh snow on the road, forecasters warn.

There will be snow, both in the north and in the south. On Thursday, snow is forecast at Saltfjellet in Nordland. From night to Saturday, and beyond Saturday, there will be more snow, reports the Meteorological Institute.

Then the winter tires should come out if you are going to drive a car in southern Norway and inland or northern areas of eastern Norway, writes NRK.

– You may want to check weather conditions and find out winter tires if you’re going to be out and driving in the mountains this weekend, state meteorologist Magnus Ovhed tells NRK.

Snow is expected from an altitude of 700 to 900 meters and more, says the meteorologist.

Drive very carefully

This afternoon there was a strong wind in Tønsberg, among other places.

– Currently we have no injuries, and we hope it continues like this. People must be vigilant and carry and secure loose items, says Southeastern Police District Operations Manager Trond Egil Groth.

Urge people to drive more carefully because of the wind. You can blow twigs on the road.

Three more passenger car

In Sarpsborg, on the E6 near Skjeberg, a truck has lost parts of the load, writes Sarpsborg Arbeiderblad.

This afternoon, a large tree flew over a car, which was parked right next to a kindergarten in Tønsberg, police report on Twitter.

The driver was sitting and driving the car when the tree fell with a crash. Fortunately, he recovered from the incident without injury. We blockade a large area, and the municipality is in place and taking care of the tree removal, says Fire Chief Sven Erik Andersen at the Fire Brigade on Twitter.

At 4pm, the police district reports that the patrols are on a mission with trees that have blown up the road and large loose objects that have blown up.

– There have been reports of downed trees and misplaced trampolines, says Operations Manager Groth.

At the same time, slippery roads are reported in several places, due to leaves.

– If people carry and secure loose items, this will be fine, Groth says.

Moderately dangerous situation

The yellow level hazard warning for wind gusts applies to Oslo, Viken, Vestfold and Telemark and Agder.

This alert is used for a moderately dangerous situation, which can cause damage locally.

There can be wind gusts of about 25 meters per second in coastal areas and about 20 meters per second in inland areas.

Find winter tires, advises a meteorologist to NRK.

– Upgrade on the way

The worst storm is probably over, meteorologist Tone Kristin Taule of the Meteorological Institute tells VG.

– The wind will abate, so tonight there is talk of a small gale. The improvement is on the way.

Remember that during the weekend there can be strong winds from night to Saturday and the first part of Saturday, in addition to a lot of rain.

– Friday will be an average day, which will not be so bad with little wind and no rainfall.

Full storm

Earlier this week, it was northern Norway that was hit by a storm.

On Wednesday, an orange warning was sent for Vesterålen and a full storm warning for Lofoten and parts of Troms, with gusts of between 35 and 40 meters per second.
