High warns of new rules for quarantined hotels

– We have always said that we are continuously open to adjusting the rules related to quarantined hotels. We are now working on further adjustments to those rules, Høie said at the Storting’s oral question time on Wednesday.

– We will adjust the quarantine rules quite quickly, he announced.

The quarantine hotel plan creates confusion and frustration and was introduced too quickly, according to Åshild Bruun-Gundersen of the Progress Party.

– Many do not understand what the real difference is with the place where you are quarantined, as long as you are not in contact with others, he said.

The parliamentary representative also emphasized that the distinction between a rented house and one’s own is not justified by infection control.

Høie confirmed that the government “works with” the difference between property and rent. But it also had a caveat:

– Coming to Norway to visit and live in someone else’s home will not be a separate quarantine place, he said.

– Few of us have houses that allow us to offer people who visit us the opportunity to live while maintaining a good distance for ten days.
