Actor Tom Cruise has had hectic days on the air while filming the new movie “Mission: Impossible” on More og Romsdal.
From “Orientekspressen” to a steep maneuver
On Saturday he practiced battle scenes on the roof of a version of “Orientekspressen” at Åndalsnes in Rauma, and on Sunday he finally completed the spectacular motorcycle stunt from Helsetkopen Mountain (1246 masl) in Stranda.
Cruise jumped straight off a ramp built at the top of the steep slope. The motorcycle fell down, while the action hero hurtled over the mountain wall.
– It happened very fast. He went up in a helicopter, and in the helicopter that landed on the ground again, he flew off the ramp on a motorcycle, says an enthusiast Ole Arnstein Ringdal of Hellesylt.
Ringdal has followed the recording closely and has also met the superstar in person. He’s very impressed with Sunday’s motorcycle stunt.
– It was completely wild. At first glance, it appeared that there were two men, but the motorcycle’s wheels could be seen in the air. 1200 meters above sea level, directly from that cliff, he says.
And the motorcycle stunt was not just performed once:
– Now it comes flying here again. This is the fourth time he’s jumped on a motorcycle, says Ringdal.
A group of 100-200 people have gathered to watch the filming. Even today, they were able to say a few words with the movie star.
– After the third jump, he came closer and spoke to us from a distance of twenty meters. He loves nature here and is very grateful for the hospitality he has experienced, Ringdal says.
He arrived in his own helicopter
The Hollywood star arrived at Helsetkopen’s feet in what is supposedly his own matte black Airbus single-engine helicopter, which also flew in London earlier this summer.
Cruise even sits behind the levers.
He obtained a helicopter certificate prior to filming the previous film “M: I” in 2018, which was documented in a behind-the-scenes video. The film shows, among other things, the star who practices helicopter hunting with the other pilots, using toy helicopters.
This weekend’s filming in Norway also featured skydiving scenes, for which Tom Cruise himself was responsible. He then jumped out of an orange Norwegian-owned helicopter.
– Great movie
Also while filming in London earlier this summer, Cruise made several parachute jumps from a helicopter. Christopher McQuarrie, director and screenwriter of “Mission Impossible,” the seventh film in the series, has revealed in interviews that there will be “at least three obscene stunts” that will make the 2018 movie’s spectacular helicopter hunt “look like a toy”. , according to Collider.
– It will be fantastic in the movie, says Tom Cruise to Åndalsnes Avis, where he also praises Norway as a ‘fantastic place’.
At the same time, Tom Cruise thinks about safety: he diligently wears a bandage in black, matching the outfit of his character Ethan Hunt.
