The Norwegian Handball Federation has developed guidelines for organized training in accordance with the recommendations of the health authorities.
– The Norwegian Handball Association stresses the importance of continuing to be involved in reducing the spread of infection and therefore it is a prerequisite that all activity follow these guidelines, writes a press release.
Since Thursday, May 7, the country’s handball rooms have been reopened for the activity, but the activity must follow the government’s infection control rules.
Now, the Norwegian Handball Association has prepared and published guidelines for organized handball activity:
- Maximum 20 people per exercise group. This applies to both indoor and outdoor activity. For children 6-10 years, smaller groups (5-10 people) are recommended.
- All training must be conducted by a person over the age of 18.
- Only healthy people should attend the training.
- Hand hygiene should be done at the beginning and end of the training session. Wash your hands with warm soapy water for at least 20 seconds.
- If no water is available, alcohol-based disinfection may be an option, but this is not effective with visibly dirty or wet hands.
- Disinfectants should always be available in the hallway.
- Always a meter of distance between the participants before, during and after the training.
- Participants must not face while doing a joint activity with the ball.
- The ball should be washed after each workout with regular detergents.
- Everyone should have their own bottle.
- For those who wear stickers, each participant must have their own stickers and stickers.
- Joint teamwork is allowed provided the above tips are followed. Common equipment should be washed / disinfected after each workout.

In addition, the association writes that players and parents must be well informed about the rules of protection against infections in general and the guidelines of handball.
Intentional violations of the guidelines must result in expulsion from training.
The Association recommends that workouts for different groups start at different times to avoid queuing in and out of the hallways, and preferably to allow time between workouts to get in and out of the hallway without any congestion. The attendance and closing hours of the training must be observed.
It is recommended to mark a space of one meter in the exposed areas in the hallway and that it is often possible to divide the areas where bags and similar objects are left so that each player has his own area for his things.
Parents and other spectators must remain out of the hall.
When it comes to exercise groups, the following tips are linked:
- Groups that train together weekly should be with regular participants and preferably participants from the same area or school district.
- If participants are to be exchanged in groups, there must be at least two days between training sessions (for example, after a weekend).
Using public transportation for training is not recommended.
Locker rooms in handball rooms must be closed for changing and showering, but toilets and sinks must be available to ensure access to water and soap for washing hands and equipment.
All strength training facilities in the handball rooms must still be closed and their use must not be allowed.
