In the last 24 hours, four new cases of contagion have been registered in Hemsedal, municipal states.
Two of them “were close contacts of a known infection” and were not permanent residents of the municipality.
According to the municipal chief physician, Camilla Underland, these two refused to go home when the positive test results came back. She describes this as a “challenge” for the Hallingdølen newspaper.
Traveled before test results
The main rule is that you, who are waiting for a test response, should stay home until you have received a response, writes the Norwegian Health Directorate on its website. In connection with this year’s winter break, the mayor of Hemsedal also had a clear message for the people in the cabin:
– If you are in quarantine, isolated, waiting for test results and you are not sure, then you should stay home and not go to the hut, Mayor Pål Rørby told Dagbladet at the time.
But according to the newspaper, Hallingdal has seen on several occasions that people do not follow this advice.
The case referred to by the municipal chief physician Underby concerns a family who was tested in Oslo and traveled to the mountains before the answer came.
– They refused to go home. So it’s our job to take care of them, even if the recommendation is to travel, Underland tells the newspaper.
Evaluation of new regulations
Mayor Pål Rørby tells Dagbladet that he does not know the details of this case.
– I have been informed that there was a family that did not want to return home, even though they had tested positive. I have no idea the basis of that or what is behind it. From what I know, there may be a good reason for this.
– Are you considering a new regulation that will provide the opportunity to send people home if they test positive?
– Yes. We have to assess during the day whether a temporary regulation should be introduced that says something about it. From before, we have one on the duty to wear masks and another on visit restrictions.
– We bleed something to hell
It highlights that the vast majority follow the recommendations made by higher authorities.
– Then there are some who question this and do not take the recommendations into account. Then we need to assess on a case-by-case basis whether a regulation and the introduction of a ban is necessary, says Rørby, adding:
– In general, we recommend everyone to follow the recommendations and regulations, and we hope that it is unnecessary to introduce a ban in the form of regulations on everything that is a recommendation.
23 quarantined
In addition to these two cases of contagion mentioned, two people residing in the municipality have also been diagnosed with contagion in the last 24 hours.
– 23 people were quarantined. All rapid tests so far negative, expect more PCR responses.
The infection situation is considered under control, the municipality states on its website.
Fear of the out-of-control Easter party
Easter message
Last week, Health Minister Bent Høie presented nine Easter commandments for high-infection areas.
1. Do not visit family and friends overnight, unless you are a student without your own family or you live alone.
2. If your municipality asks you to avoid home visits, avoid visits to the places where you stay at Easter.
Do not go to hotels or other accommodations where many gather.
4. Stay home if you are sick. Go home if you get sick.
5. Stay home if you are waiting for a corona test response.
6. Children or young people may be visited by one or two regular friends.
7. If you go to a cabin, travel alone with your own home or one or two nearby if you live alone.
8. If you go to a cabin, buy before you go and avoid all the places where people gather. Keep your distance on the ski lifts and slopes.
9. Follow the advice of the municipality in which you live and the municipality you visit.
The government is holding a press conference tonight on the status of the crown. FHI says people should be prepared for austerity measures at Easter.
