He discovered that the cats had their own Instagram account.

– I thought they were ordinary cats, but suddenly they are sitting there with a law degree, says Thorild Eide Torgersen.

On Friday evening, Thorild Eide Torgersen received a random message from a law student at the University of Bergen (UiB).

In the message, he was asked if he had seen the advokatten.dragfjellet instagram account.

– I logged into the account and there were a lot of photos of my cats inside the law building, says Torgersen.

She explains that they live in the middle of the university area in Dragefjellet, and that she knew they were moving through the area.

-But that they took care of themselves up to that point I didn’t know, he says and laughs.

Fixed seats

Cats are brother and sister. They are around 2.5 years old. The cat is called Alaya and the male cat is called Him.

– Besides the law school building, they also spend a lot of time outside the church. So they like to vary between a law degree and a religious focus, Torgersen laughs.

Inside the law building, each of them has found their favorite place.

Torgersen explains that she is often well placed in the reserved book carriage, while she is often found on the shelf.

Secret assistant

The student behind the Instagram account wants to remain anonymous and calls himself an attorney’s assistant.

The aide explains that they did the account after they all closed in March due to the corona pandemic.

– Suddenly I had a lot of time to spare when all physical assistance became impossible, and I thought I could spend my time giving back to the student community in Dragefjellet, writes the owner of the account in a message to BT.

They say that there has been a good response to the account, and that several have sent contribution photos of the cats.

– Hopefully, the images have helped ease the pandemic a bit.

Greedy resourceful

The cats are purebred cats of the Burmese sacred type, and Torgersen says that is why they often seek contacts.

– Purebred cats are a bit consanguineous, far from instinct, so they easily lie down at the feet of strangers and ask for caresses, he explains.

Although the Instagram account indicates that most people find it pleasant to visit cats, Torgersen worries that not everyone thinks it is so much fun.

– I think it was very clever when I saw it, and then I must admit that I also thought; Shit, probably not everyone thinks it’s okay.

How long cats have studied law, Torgersen can’t answer. But they have been moving in the area around Dragefjellet for 1.5 years.

– I thought they were normal cats, but suddenly they are sitting there with a law degree, she says and laughs.
