After more than 350 games for the Blue and White, Mattias Moström thanked himself as a Molde player after this season. His contract with the Romsdal club expires on December 31, but that is not the end for the Swede.

Moström will not say exactly what offer he has received, but it is clear that Molde wants to use his football skills in the future.

– What I have dreamed of after my football career, they have offered me. It may seem silly, but I don’t want to say anything until everything is clear. But I’ve been offered to do what I really want after my football career, so it’s up to me if I want to take it, he tells VG.

Molde coach Erling Moe does not want to go into details either, but is clear that he values ​​the 37-year-old’s thoughts and opinions on football.

– It is always the case that I try to listen to people who are really good at football. Mattias has it. So I want to hear what he thinks about his future, and if we can see him together or not, says Moe.

Moström doesn’t hide the fact that the coaching profession is tempting.

– I love it and it interests me a lot. That is the dream of my football career. It can be difficult to refuse this opportunity. Not many people get it, he says, but at the same time he is aware that he still feels he can contribute on the football field and that it will be difficult to hold on when form is still good.

Dialed and dropped a tear

Moström came from AIK in 2006 and became a standout player in the Eliteserien for his speed, team spirit and offensive qualities. He stopped at 32 goals and 49 assists for Molde.

After 14 memorable years at the club, he scored a worthy point in the Molde jersey when he scored the team’s second goal of the day in a 5-0 win over Sarpsborg at home.

– It was unreal. He hadn’t thought of scoring before the game. There were some tears when it happened. Then something happened to me. It was unbelievably delicious. It was great, says an excited Moström.

Moe took off on the bench, teammates cheered wildly, and the few who had been able to get into the stands gave standing ovations. When he was replaced after 67 minutes, the crowd rose again.

– Today there were some good goals, but for me Moström was the best. He’s a fantastic guy, and I think there were more than me who sat with a lump in their throats when he nailed the bar. I saw that he himself had some tears, he was incredibly big. A worthy ending, if there is an ending, says the great player of the match, Martin Ellingsen.

Moström is the winningest Molde player of all time. He and Vegard Forren each have four league golds each, with his fourth silver medal, the Swede has one silver more than the top-division midfielder. He also has two gold cups and has experienced group matches in Europe three times.

– They are so many years and I have experienced so much. It is difficult to pin down which is the largest. I am incredibly proud of my career and I am grateful for so much, says Moström excitedly.

– It was huge. He’s been involved in a whole new era of greatness, from the moment we started winning and qualifying for Europe. It has been a bauta for us. He came here in 2006-2007 and has carved his name in stone in the stadium here. He is what can be called a club legend, all praise Moström for Moe.

With his routine and behavior, the 37-year-old has left deep traces in Molde’s dressing room.

– He’s a big man. I have respected him a lot since I came here. It’s amazing that he’s so good at his age. I look at it and it motivates me, says Leke James.

Ellingsen is one of those who hope Molde will keep Moström at the club.
