Harald Are Lund: – NRK host is dead

Harald Are Lund, a former host and record producer for NRK, has passed away at 73.

He died at his home in Tangen on September 4, the family reports to NRK.

When he turned 70 in 2016, he thanked himself after a full 50 years on the state channel. Already in 1968 he started with the “Platespillern” program and over the years he participated in a lot of different music programs on NRK.

Harald Are Lund was early to present punk music on Norwegian radio. He is also said to have been the first to play Nirvana on Norwegian national radio, as early as 1989, several years before the group broke through.

For several years he had the program “Harald Are Lund” on NRK P13.

As a record producer, he has worked with Junipher Greene, Hole In The Wall, Jonas Fjeld Band, Vømmøl Spellmannslag, Can Can, Clawfinger, de Lillos, Seigmen and Bigbang.

He received the Radio Days Honorary Award in 2009 and was the first to receive the Rockheim Honorary Award during the Rockheim Hall of Fame ceremony in 2017.
