In a report from the National Institute of Public Health that NRK analyzed on Friday night, it is claimed that two doctors came into contact with an infected patient at Hammerfest hospital. Since then, the virus has spread even further within the hospital. At the same time, it has been mapped that a person in a restaurant tested positive during the same period that several hospital employees visited the restaurant.

– Infection within the hospital is suspected to have spread among staff in connection with meetings, teaching, as well as socializing at work and in private. Positive cases associated with the outbreak have been spread across four municipalities, according to the report’s summary.

Siri Tau Ursin, executive director of the Health Trust Finnmark Hospital, acknowledges that they broke the rules for infection control at the hospital, but explains that relatively few were infected at the time the outbreak began, in early October.

– People gathered for a briefing in the morning, they met in the meeting rooms, and maybe it was one or two more in relation to what’s in our procedures when it comes to distance and infection control, says the director of NRK.

A total of 42 people were infected in connection with the outbreak. At the hospital, seven patients and 26 employees were infected.
