Had acute diarrhea during the city council meeting

Haugesund Avis was the first to mention the case.

– I have acute diarrhea. That’s right, says Bjørn Erik Davidsen (50) to the newspaper.

He is a group leader of the Green Party in Haugesund.

On Wednesday evening, the 49 members of the Haugesund city council met at the team meeting. With audio and camera streaming, the meeting was broadcast and posted directly to the municipality’s website. That is, open to anyone who would like to see the meeting.

What was initially a completely ordinary reunion without a lot of drama will soon take a little turn.

I had to go to the bathroom a lot

At the home of one of the city councilors, a small crisis arose in the middle of the city council meeting in Teams.

MDG politician Bjørn-Erik Davidsen (50) suddenly had to go to the bathroom. And it was urgent to get there.

I had two options

Finally, the need for a toilet became so great that he had to decide between two options:

Or you could just leave the meeting. Otherwise, you could stay in the meeting and take him to the bathroom, with the camera and microphone turned off.

– Simply leaving the meeting did not seem justifiable. Turning it off can quickly lead to you being dropped out of the case, and worst case scenario, you can vote badly in the vote, so that the case goes completely wrong, Davidsen tells the newspaper.

Took the meeting to the bathroom

So he took the PC and the meeting to the bathroom. He thinks this was a great way to keep up.

As he sat watching the meeting, he suddenly discovered a joyous mood on the screen. In the background he heard hums and laughter from some of the participants.

Then he realized that he forgot to turn off the PC camera.

He’s not sure how long the camera was on, but he thinks it may not have been much seen. At least he had managed to turn off the sound.

– Danger of forgetting what is important

The Haugesund politician believes that it should not be underestimated that everyone can make mistakes, including politicians.

He says others may also learn something unfortunate from his incident:

– If you have acute diarrhea and think you can solve it with multitasking, there is a danger that you will forget to turn off the important button while it is on. Don’t trust the camera is off, says Bjørn-Erik Davidsen.
