Manchester City-Leicester 2-5

See the highlights of Manchester City-Leicester at the top!

Pep Guardiola’s side gave up three penalties in the home game against Leicester which ended in an embarrassing 5-2 loss.

– You don’t win the Premier League if you concede five goals, of course, Guardiola tells TV 2.

Although none of the penalties came hand-in-hand, the Premier League weekend was characterized by hand situations that led to decisive shots and goals. For example, Callum Wilson’s draw at seven minutes into extra time against Tottenham.

For TV 2, the city manager says he is frustrated with the rule.

– It’s so hard to understand, honestly. All the coaches work so hard, and then you lose points in situations like this where there is no intention to destroy … You cannot jump with your hands down the body, it passes without intention, says the Spanish while gesturing with his arms.

Guardiola is clear about what should happen with the rule.

– They should honestly reconsider.

I don’t understand that the rule was accepted

The Asturian points out that it is not only he of the best coaches who is upset because penalty kicks per hand abound.

– I think Roy Hodgson explained it amazingly yesterday. This is how all managers feel about it.

He refers to an interview that the manager of Crystal Palace did with the BBC after the game. The 70-year-old was highly critical after his defender Joel Ward was grounded in a 1-2 loss to Everton on Saturday.

– It is totally unacceptable. Destroy the joy of soccer as a game, Hodgson said, adding:

– I cannot understand how someone in the game, Premier League, referees, coaches, coach has accepted that this rule should be used. I will not win or lose with it.

Watch TV 2 soccer expert Brede Hangeland and Trevor Morley showing their discontent with the general rule in the Premier League studio below:

Against a record

Before the game at Etihad Stadium, the number of penalty kicks was so high that they were close to 269 penalty kicks during the season.

If you add up the penalty shootout in Manchester, you’re at 309, breaking the league record for 112 penalty kicks in one season.

Compared to the same number of games last season, the average number of penalties has more than tripled.

So it remains to be seen if the trend continues and if the rule will be changed.

Hangeland has had enough: – Completely on wild roads
