There will be no strike for just over 5,000 retail workers. Eight overtime hours, Commerce and Office and Work reached an agreement.
The parties affirm this on Saturday morning.
The parties agree to remove the twelve hour rule. Those who work less than twelve hours a week have not previously been entitled to benefits for evening, night and weekend work.

– Getting rid of the twelve hour rule has been an important equality requirement for us for many years. Without the twelve hour rule, it will now be much more attractive to offer part-time employees a higher vacancy rate. This is a requirement for full-time work, and it is also a gender equality requirement, says union leader Christopher Beckham in Trade and Office.
Trade and Office intended to receive full payment during the illness, but no agreement was reached.
Sustainability included in the agreement
At the same time, it is the first time that the parties in working life have negotiated the environment and climate in collective agreements.
– This agreement creates competition in companies and stimulates sustainable change in the commerce and services industry. The goal is to secure jobs and competitiveness in Norway in the future, and this is a good step in that direction, says Virke’s manager, Iver Horneland Kristensen.
Rest in August
At midnight Saturday night, the deadline for mediation between the Trade and Office employee organization and Virke’s employers expired. Organized in Parat employee organization is also covered by mediation.
Negotiations on a new National Accord moved to mediation after a breakdown in negotiations between Virke and Handel og Kontor on August 28.
