Watch Hoppuka’s latest race on TV 2 and Sumo on Wednesday kl. 4:45 pm (qualifying Tuesday at 4:30 pm)
First, the 24-year-old used Twitter to put into words why he expressed himself the way he did in the minutes after the jumping puck winner’s dream landed a solid shot for goal at Bergiselbakken.
“I was frustrated with my result today, and still am. This is a hill that I only have bad memories of, and with what happened today there were a lot of emotions,” wrote Granerud.
In a video on the website skijumping.pl, he also talks about the statements that created resentment in Poland.
Hi Kamil and everyone watching this. I just want to apologize for my comments today. It was not intended to damage your jumps. It was a fit of frustration at my own result, Granerud says there.
Stoch has the grip
The boy Asker led the jumping week before Sunday’s race, but after 15th place in Innsbruck, he is 20.6 points behind leader Kamil Stoch before the finish in Bischofshofen on Wednesday.
The Polish star jumper won the race at Bergiselbakken on Sunday.
In an interview with TV 2 after Sunday’s race, Granerud expressed, among other things, that he felt that the Poles had been lucky with the conditions during the jumping week, in contrast to him. In addition, the 24-year-old more than indicated that jump week leader Kamil Stoch jumps so shakily that victory in jump week is still possible.
This generated outrage in Poland.

Stoch shelf
In the video on skijumping.pl, the national team jumper admits that he should not have given an interview in anger.
– I never meant to say that Kamil is not a good or fantastic ski jumper. He is my jumping idol. I try to jump like he does, says the Norwegian.
Also on Twitter, he stressed that respect for Stoch is great.
“I see Kamil as one of the best of all time, but I also believe that anything can happen with a perfect performance at Bischofshofen. As long as there is hope, I have faith,” Granerud wrote.
