But the Foreign Ministry already presented bad news for travel enthusiasts on Tuesday: travel abroad that is not strictly necessary should be avoided until March 1.

At the same time, a signal was given that a new extension is likely.

– Hopefully there will be travel restrictions also when Easter comes around. People should not now plan trips abroad for Easter, says Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide (H) in a press release.

Students hope to start ordinary teaching long before then.

But on Tuesday, the government announced that high school students and students must be prepared for crisis measures to paralyze the education sector even after January 19.

Here are some other good and bad news about the crown:

The modern vaccine has arrived

4,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine arrived in Oslo on Tuesday. It is the second approved vaccine against covid-19 to arrive in Norway.

After checking if the transport went well, Moderna vaccines will continue to be distributed. According to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, the first vaccination will likely take place on Thursday.

Norway will receive 67,000 doses of the vaccine in January and February.

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health has chosen to make the first delivery to Oslo for practical reasons.

More and more vaccinated

On Monday, 21,211 people in Norway were vaccinated with the first of two doses of the vaccine from Pfizer and Biontech. 225 people received the vaccine on Monday. Most of those vaccinated are in:

  • Viken (5,021)
  • Oslo (3,196)
  • Indoor (2,339)

The lowest doses have been established in Nordland (857), Troms and Finnmark (950) and Møre og Romsdal (1,065). In 32 municipalities, according to NIPH statistics, so far only zero to four vaccines have been established.

The numbers may be a little lower than the actual numbers. There have been technical problems with the registry.

Ongoing vaccination at Oslo Hospital

On Tuesday, the Oslo University Hospital began vaccinating employees. Initially, only a small proportion receive the vaccine.

– We still see a high infection in Oslo and many hospitalized patients with covid-19 who need intensive care. If we want to secure staffing in the future, we don’t have time to waste vaccinating employees, Medical Director Hilde Myhren says on the hospital’s website.

New infection record last week

4,413 Norwegians were diagnosed with coronary heart disease last week. It’s more than a few weeks early, according to statistics from the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH).

Thus, week 1 in 2021 was the worst week of infection in the now ten-month pandemic, writes Dagbladet, who mentioned the case for the first time.

The record is related to the fact that another record was set last week: number of tests in one week: 178,000.

The R number in Bergen: 1.7

The R number shows how many people a corona infection is transmitted to. In Bergen, the number has increased from 1.0 to 1.7.

– It is as we expected and feared, that the R will now increase after the new year, informs CEO E claim Hansen at Helse Bergen to Bergensavisen.

– Without the import infection, the R is 1.3, he says. He says this is a strong reminder to keep your distance and that it is important to follow the other infection control rules.

No flu

So far it is not known if there has been a single case of the flu this season, writes Nationen. According to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, this is very abnormal.

Karoline Bragstad characterizes it as exceptional. She is the head of the influenza and other airborne infections section at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.

On average 900 people die from influenza in Norway during one season.

But missing flu season isn’t just a good thing, warns FHI. The reason is that the rare virus creates problems in making a good flu vaccine for the coming winter.

– Covid-19 is unlikely to replace flu in the long term, and we must be prepared for the next flu season to be tough, says Bragstad.

149 hospitalized

On Tuesday, 149 corona-infected patients were hospitalized, two more than the previous day.

22 of the patients receive respiratory treatment, an increase of two from the previous day.

This shows figures from the Norwegian Health Directorate.

Four deported Romanian sex workers

The four women are scheduled to be transported out of Norway on Wednesday this week. The reason is that your work poses a significant risk to public health during the pandemic. They arrived in Norway in November and December. According to court decisions from the Oslo District Court, SMS records show that the quartet met with clients shortly after their arrival in Norway. This is a violation of quarantine regulations.

The police requested detention under the Immigration Act until they are sent out of the country.

The women lived in an apartment that was not adapted to infection control rules. In total, the women had close contact with more than 120 clients a week, according to the court decision.

Rapid clay sufferers receive no benefit from the vaccine

Gjerdrum evacuees are not allowed to advance in line to receive the coronary vaccine. The National Institute of Public Health does not find per. now the basis for this, says the Minister of Health and Care Services Bent Høie.

The question was posed by Storting representative Anniken Huitfeldt (Labor Party) from Ullensaker. He has even visited evacuees in hotels. According to Romerikes Blad, she has pointed out that many of the evacuees after the landslide live in hotels or near other people with family and friends.

– So it can be difficult for them without visits and social distance, he tells the newspaper.

Reindeer racing and lasso throw canceled

Finally, it can be mentioned that the pandemic leads to the following bad news for the people of Tromsø: the Arctic winter market is canceled, with the NM in reindeer races and the launch of ties. It should have been held in Tromsø on February 6 and 7.

Typically, these events draw more than 3,000 spectators.
