– It is heavy and difficult to handle, says the mayor of Gjerdrum, Anders Østensen (Labor Party), who on Wednesday night was greatly affected by the disaster that has hit the municipality.

– I sincerely hope that the number of those who have not been counted continues to decrease, Østensen tells TV 2.

Now a reality is approaching in which one begins to obtain people’s names.

– It will be heavy, he says.

– We are not a big place, so it is clear that this affects us. The possibility that we will meet many of those affected is great, he tells NRK Wednesday night.

Completed the search

In the 1920s, the police ended the search with gangs in the red zone. Drones and helicopters will continue to circulate in the area in search of survivors.

The police still hope to find survivors in the area of the landslide, and the search operation is still organized accordingly. Among other things, helicopter heat search cameras are used. Police are also working to locate the mobile phones of missing persons in the area of the landslide.

The number of people who have not been counted fell to 10. At 10:15 pm, the police gave them the status of missing.

– Now the investigation has worked a bit and we have received information that makes us form an image of these people who we now say are missing, says Task Manager Roger Pettersen in the Eastern Police District on Wednesday night.

– We have contact so much with relatives, relatives and friends of these eleven now that we talk with them, he says.

Missing persons are based on those who live at the affected addresses and with whom the police have not come into contact.

Children among the missing

– It is women and men who belong to the houses that have been taken, that have not been counted. There are also children among these, task leader Roger Pettersen tells TV 2.

– We can only hope that many of them are traveling or in the cabin or something similar, but we know that there are not many who travel at this time due to the situation in the crown, says the mayor to TV 2.

Evacuation around the landslide area is still in full swing Wednesday night.

NVE has defined a larger area as unsafe and has therefore sent SMS alerts to multiple households. The mayor confirms to TV 2 that the evacuation can increase from 900 people to 1500.

– The most important tasks for the crisis team in the future are to provide good information about what life will be like tomorrow, but also in a week or a month. Of course, it is difficult for us to know, but we must look for those who have been evacuated to hotels and try to give them the best possible information, Østensen says.
