Brann 1-2 FK Haugesund (0-0)
Brann is on a desperate hunt for points after their weak season has sent them closer and closer to the relegation battle. On Saturday, there was another loss for Brann.
See the match summary at the top!
– We played a good game at home, but it is completely unforgivable to let in such goals that we do. In the situation we find ourselves in now, we make it very difficult for ourselves. It is a hard day for us. This is a reality check that we are where we are, Brann coach Kåre Ingebrigtsen tells TV 2 after the game.
After stating that gold in 2021 was a concrete target, optimism returned among Brann’s supporters. But the effect of a new coach has not turned out as the people of Bergen expected.
The fire truck does not regret the golden declarations
It has been almost three months and ten games since Kåre Ingebrigtsen led his first match as Brann’s manager. It ended in a loss for Mjøndalen.
Since the Aug. 16 game, Brann lost four, drew four and took the win. There are seven points in ten games.
– I don’t remember the last time we won a football game, this is heavy, says scorer Petter Strand to TV 2 after the game.
Ahamada disappointed
One of the moves Ingebrigtsen made before the FKH match was to replace Håkon Opdal with Ali Ahamada. The last chance ended with a giant error when the score was 0-0.
One choice Ingebrigtsen emphasized after the game was that Ahamada deserved a chance after being good in training.
– It’s disappointing. It was an important game and we lost it. I’m disappointed like everyone else, says Ahamada on TV 2.
– Do you feel that the first goal is your fault?
– Yes, that is my responsibility. I have bad luck in the goal, I am very disappointed, says Ahamada.
Nine straight home games without a win is a new record for Brann. Never before had the club played so many games without winning at home. The previous victory at Brann Stadium came on July 12 when Brann won 3-1 over Sandefjord.
– It’s disappointing, it’s sad. It’s our fault, but we can’t hold onto it. We have to work together to get out of it. We are the ones who must make it through the fall to get out of this. Now we must use the time ahead wisely, says Ingebrigtsen.
Solid Guardian Bug
It was a heroic Brann team that went straight to the throat of Haugesund’s guests. The game was barely a minute away when Fredrik Haugen shot from 20 meters, but Helge Sandvik raised his arms and threw the ball into a corner kick.
Sandvik refocused after 40 minutes.
Jón Gudni Fjóluson destroyed everything and everyone when Fredrik Haugen took a corner kick into the FKH area. The header was good, but Sandvik reacted quickly and hit the crossbar. A phantom rescue from the last chance.
Within ten minutes of the second half, it was Brann’s goalkeeper, Ali Ahamada, who finished in the center of the event. The last chance lasted with a turnout that is guaranteed to end in most bug rides after the season.
Aleksander Stølås lunged forward and hit the ball in front of the goal. Ahamada was supposed to pick up the ball, but couldn’t hold it. Thus, the ball disappeared behind him and entered Brann’s goal. One solid mistake for the last time.
Brann responded immediately, then they blew it
On Brann’s part, thankfully it wasn’t long before they tied. Sander Svendsen had a great opportunity, but once again Helge Sandvik kept pace with a class stop.
Another disappointing match from a team that thinks it’s too good to relegate🚨
A win in 11 matches for Kåre is simply surprisingly weak. Brann has a lot to fix before he gets close to the best teams, and most of it is not Kåre’s fault, but 1 in 11!

The comeback ended in the legs of Petter Strand, and then Sandvik was outmatched. Thus, it was 1-1 30 minutes from the end of the game.
Just five minutes later, FK Haugesund had a golden opportunity to regain the lead. Kristoffer Velde fell onto the field and referee Tom Harald Hagen pointed to the penalty spot.
Niklas Sandberg was confident and sent the guests back in the lead.
– It was huge. Last time I missed Aalesund and then we lost. So I was pretty depressed. It was a little written in the stars that it should go the other way today, says the winner of the FK Haugesund match on TV 2.
Sandberg missed a penalty against Aalesund in the previous round when FKH lost to the orange jerseys. He now believes that victory over Brann secured a spot in the Elite Series next season.
– This probably means that we will be playing in the Elite Series next year. I think we should have done it no matter how today went, but now it will be difficult to catch up, says Sandberg.
Just before the end, Strand was about to score his second goal. Sandvik, who had had a brilliant game at the back of FKH, was about to spoil the ball in his own goal, but escaped the horror.
There were no more goals at Brann Stadium. With six league games to go, Brann is 12th, five points ahead of the playoffs.
