This is stated by Flensburg-Handewitt in a press release.

Jøndal has played big for the great German club since the transition from Danish handball in 2018. The contract with the Flensburg team expires this summer.

– Sportingly, I have done very well and I have felt comfortable here in Flensburg. Now I hope to spend more time with the family in Norway, says Jøndal.

For several years he has been an important player for the Norwegian national team. Jøndal will likely end his career at the Olympics if Norway gets the job done during qualifying in March.

Flensburg-Handewitt is clear that the club wanted the 32-year-old to continue even after the 2020/21 season.

– We respect your decision 100 percent. Our conversations about the future have been open and positive. We said early what we think and we would like to have it. He is an absolute class player in his position, says coach Maik Machulla.

Most recently, on Thursday, Jøndal scored four goals when Elverum was narrowly beaten 30-29 at Terningen Arena in the Champions League.
