Billionaire, Trump supporter and Senator Kelly Loeffler tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday, after traveling for election rallies with Vice President Pence on Friday.
Loeffler is running for reelection as a senator from the state of Georgia in early January.
Fox News reports that she now has to be quarantined while waiting for new test results; on Saturday he tested positive for covid-19. The timing is inconvenient, as Georgia voters must register by December 7 to vote on January 5.
On Friday, a PCR test and a rapid test had been performed. According to the rapid test, she was healthy, while the more comprehensive PCR test showed that she was infected with the virus. Loeffler now awaits a third result, to confirm whether or not she is infected.
– She has no symptoms and will remain in quarantine until she receives a response to the control test, says spokesman Stephen Lawson on behalf of the Loeffler election campaign.
An American expert described her to VG as “a kind of mini-Trump, attracting several voters and rejecting others.”

Electoral meetings
Loeffler’s positive test result came the day after she and Vice President Mike Pence attended election rallies in Georgia.
“I am back on the bus today, because we need you to continue the fight,” Pence told party supporters.
“Continue the fight until we have sent Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue back to a Republican majority,” he urged.
Loeffler wore a mask when meeting with voters during Friday’s event. On Thursday he was at another indoor event, without a mask.
The senator’s spokeswoman states that she has followed the guidelines for contact tracing and has informed all of her close contacts.
Important state election
There is great tension surrounding the Senate election in Georgia, which is divided by deep divisions.
Biden narrowly won the state in November, something local authorities announced Friday night. Trump has called for a third vote recount, but this is not expected to change the outcome in the state.
At the same time, there is a battle for two seats in the state Senate, and whoever wins these will have secured a majority in the Senate. A victory for the Democrats will mean that Joe Biden can implement many more of his policies than if Republicans were allowed to continue with a majority here.
Following the elections, Loeffler has demanded the resignation of the state administration minister, Brad Raffensperger, and claimed that there were several errors in the conduct of the elections. There is no evidence for the accusations.
Loeffler, who is a businesswoman, billionaire and the richest senator in the United States, vacated her job in the senator’s seat a year earlier after the senator-elect resigned due to health problems. There is a dead end between her and the opposing candidate Raphael Warnock, who by the way is a priest.
She and her husband have been accused of getting rich from insider trading from a Senate hearing on how the COVID-19 pandemic would affect the United States economy.
She sold the shares after complaining to the Senate Ethics Committee, where she was acquitted by the Republican majority.
