The Welshman Bale has been completely out of combat with Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane. The 31-year-old is now on loan to Tottenham until June 30, 2021.
– It’s nice to be back. This is a special club for me, Bale tells the Tottenham website.
In recent days, talks have been confirmed about Bale’s return to Tottenham. On Friday, fans in attendance patted him at Tottenham’s training facility.
Now the superstar transition is confirmed.
– I always thought I would go back to Tottenham sometime. I’m hungry and I’m looking forward to this season.
The 31-year-old Bale has two years left on his contract with Real Madrid and is reportedly earning close to seven million kronor a week. Real Madrid must have been willing to pay part of Bale’s salary if he found a new employer.
Sold for a record sum in 2013
Gareth Bale switched from Tottenham to Real Madrid in 2013. At that time, he was sold for a record sum of close to one billion Norwegian kroner.
At Real Madrid, the Briton has been involved in winning the Champions League four times. He has also been proclaimed champion of Spain on four occasions.
Bale’s relationship with Zinédine Zidane has not been the best. In the 2019/2020 season, Bale was only able to start one match when the series started again after the crown break.
– The objective this year will be to fight on all fronts, this club deserves trophies. I hope I can contribute the necessary mindset, says Bale.
However, the Welshman can point to some impressive statistics in the period he has spent in the Spanish capital.
105 goals and 59 assists in 251 games is the culmination of seven years at Real Madrid.
