Several regions and countries go from yellow to red after the National Institute of Public Health has conducted a weekly assessment of the infection situation in Europe.
The Foreign Ministry now advises against travel that is not strictly necessary to Slovakia and Hungary, southern Denmark in Denmark, and the Kainuu (Kainuu) region in Finland. In addition to the Jämtland and Örebro regions in Sweden.
Increase in infection rates
All travelers from these countries and regions who come to Norway from midnight to September 12 will be quarantined for ten days.
All of these countries and regions have had rising infection rates and are now above the limit of less than 20 confirmed cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks.
Correct to close the border
It has been almost a week since the border with Jämtland in Sweden was opened. Stjørdal’s municipal chief doctor, Leif Edvard Muruvik Vonen, thinks it is right to discourage travel now:
– I think it is correct to toughen up because there are so many uncertainties about leaving the country. We have very little detailed knowledge of what is happening, says the municipal chief.
Understand that this may affect many Norwegians who have huts in Sweden.
– I feel compassion for those who have property and a country house in Sweden. But infection control must be done well enough, he says.
From yellow to red
The Foreign Ministry still advises against travel that is not strictly necessary to all countries for which no exceptions have been made. This travel notice applies in principle until October 1.
People who come from countries that subsequently receive red status should pay special attention to the symptoms of covid-19. It is very important that they examine themselves for symptoms, and that they are careful with hand hygiene and stay at least one meter from others.
