Forced to internal examination

A group of women who were to fly from Qatar’s Hamad International Airport were picked up from the planes they were flying with after a newborn baby was found abandoned at the airport, according to Australian authorities.

Among all the women who were pulled from the planes they were to fly with, according to CNN, there were 13 Australian women.

All were said to have been forced to undergo an internal examination in a local ambulance, to find out if any of them had given birth to the child who had been found at the airport.

– Reports of the incident indicate that the way the women were treated was offensive and extremely inappropriate. Furthermore, the situation should not have made it possible for women to consent based on adequate information, a spokesman for Australian authorities told CNN.

I was worried

Hamad International Airport has confirmed that they found a newborn baby abandoned there on October 2.

They say the medical staff who examined the baby wanted them to locate the mother before she left the airport, because they were concerned for her health.

The baby’s mother has not yet been found and airport authorities are still searching for her. The baby has been cared for by medical personnel and the child welfare service and must be healthy and safe.

Depressed mood

One of the passengers on one of the planes, Wolfgang Beck, told CNN that the mood on the plane, when the women returned, was depressed.

shouted one of the women. The others seemed to be in shock. No one could believe what had happened. It was such an intimate and private trampling. You are not so interested in sharing it with people.

Beck further says the women left the plane in good faith, based on instructions they had received from those who worked at the airport.

Australian Foreign Secretary Marisa Payne said Monday that she had never heard of anything like this happen before.

– This is a serious, extremely inappropriate, offensive and disturbing incident. We have sent a clear message to the Qatari authorities on what we think about it.

They have also reported the incident to the Australian Federal Police.
