After low-cost carrier Wizz Airs entered Norway, it wasn’t many hours before Norwegian responded to the price war.
Because when the Hungarian airline announced that it would invest in the Norwegian market, with three routes starting on November 5, it did so with record prices.
A flight from Oslo to Trondheim, Bergen and Tromsø will cost just 199 kroner according to Wizz Air.
Norwegian has now responded to the price cut by lowering its own prices by more than 70 percent, writes flysmart24.no.

Powerful cuts
When Wizz Air announced its prices at 1 pm Tuesday afternoon, Norwegian’s tickets from Oslo to Trondheim cost 779 kroner.
But after the Norwegian airline saw the competition just started, they cut the price by 208 crowns one way. If you order Finn Reise, you also get prices for just 162 crowns.
“Our goal is to have low ticket prices,” Norwegian press officer Charlotte Holmbergh Jacobsson tells flysmart24.
She won’t answer how long the new price level will last, but says they will regularly have “extra good price campaigns.”
On trips from Oslo to Bergen, prices have also dropped dramatically. Because while Wizz Air operates at the same price of NOK 199 per route, Norwegian now offers tickets for NOK 209.

– It should be an awards party
Although the first days are only one or two daily flights at this price, from next week it will be applied all day.
These prices have hardly ever been seen over such long distances, according to flysmart24.no, and only anniversary tickets for very special occasions have been able to compete.
– There may be fierce price competition also at the national level between big cities in Norway. It should be an awards party. Wizz Air has always had very low prices and one of the fastest growing companies in Europe, says Finn Reise’s commercial director, Terje Berge, on the web.
The new competition, on the other hand, has prompted Oslo City Councilor Raymond Johansen to issue a warning against Wizz Air.
– Wizz Air will not hire pilots or cabin crew locally in Norway. They will not offer working conditions or salary in Norway. They don’t allow unions, and management has previously been involved in union crackdowns, Johansen writes on Facebook Tuesday.
