Five schools in Ullensaker affected by corona infection – VG

Four new cases of infection were confirmed on Saturday. One of them is a student from Jessheim Upper Secondary School, the fifth student to be confirmed infected in the municipality so far.

Another new infection is associated with Bakke Elementary School.

– We understand well that people become uneasy when the infection increases in the municipality, and both schools and kindergartens are affected, writes the municipal director of health Gunnhild Grimstad-Kirkeby in a Press release.

– The most important thing that we can all do now is to comply with the infection control regulations with the greatest possible awareness, emphasizes the municipal director.

A total of 186 students and 18 teachers from across the municipality are now in quarantine. In addition, there are another 90 inhabitants in the municipality.

– The outbreak in Jessheim VGS and the contagion situation in the municipality in general constitutes a serious situation that we closely monitor, in close dialogue with the National Institute of Public Health, writes the municipal director:

Five schools:

• Jessheim Upper Secondary School – 3 students: Three students confirmed the infection last Saturday. More than 100 in quarantine.
• Bakke Elementary School: A person associated with the school has been confirmed to be infected. A person in the same household as this was also confirmed infected on Saturday, but only one of them is connected to the school. A class and their sixth grade teachers are in quarantine. The municipality does not believe that the infection could be related to Jessheim VGS.
• Skogmo School – 1 student: A student here confirmed the infection Thursday. The 49 second-graders, as well as a teacher, are considered close contacts and were quarantined. Associated with the Jessheim VGS eruption.
• Allergot ungdomsskole – 1 student: A ninth grader tested positive earlier in the week. Close contacts are quarantined. Associated with the Jessheim VGS eruption.
• Vesong Schools: The employees were quarantined after an employee without contact with the students became infected. There is no connection to Jessheim VGS, believes the municipality.
• Læringsverkstedet Kindergarten in Ekornrud: People in quarantine due to close contact with infected people associated with the outbreak at Jessheim VGS.

The municipality is not implementing more comprehensive measures at this time, as Oslo and Bergen, among others, have done.

– The assessment is that quarantine and testing of the close contacts of the infected is the correct way to follow the situation as it is now. However, we conduct ongoing assessments and will implement more comprehensive measures to prevent further spread of the infection, if the situation calls for it, writes Grimstad-Kirkeby.

– People can complete fall break as planned, but those with a connection to affected schools may be more vigilant for symptoms, Grimstad-Kirkeby recommends.

Correction: In the first version of this case, five infected people were written behind the vignette for Jessheim Senior High School. However, the five students are distributed in several schools. There are three infected in Jessheim VGS. The error was corrected on 21.54 of 26.09.2020.
