– We discovered a person on the ground. He’s awake and conscious, but cold and frozen after being in the water, operations manager Marius Skålvoll in the Nordland police district tells NRK.

Police received a message shortly before 2:00 p.m. from a person who had been in contact with the missing person.

Rescue helicopters and two rescue boats were deployed to the rescue operation after police were notified this afternoon that a person had fallen into the water at Gravdal on Vestvågøy. The rescue operation continues until further notice.

– We are continuing to investigate if there have been more people in the water. We don’t have complete control over whether only he has been in the water. Until we know for sure, we’ll keep looking to see if there have been more in the water, Skålvoll tells NRK.

The police continue to work on the ground. They have also sent rescue dogs to assist in the search. The Sea King rescue helicopter has been dispatched from Bodø.

– Police are now conducting a ground search, and there are also two lifeboats on a trip to the site, Operations Manager Ina Selfors in the Nordland Police District told NTB early Wednesday.

Updated: The search operation has finished and everyone has been found safe and sound, writes Lofotposten. Just after 5 p.m., the police received information that three people had been involved in the incident. One person was previously found wet and icy on the shore.

Now the other two people are also counted. They must be in good condition. Police are now launching an investigation to see if the incident can be seen in connection with the robbery of a ship in the port, the newspaper writes.

According to Lofotenposten, the incident is related to the robbery of a boat. The police tell the newspaper that they cannot say with certainty that it is the three they have been looking for who were responsible for the theft of the boat.
