The background is two larger gatherings in a foreign language setting connected to a congregation in Lyngdal last weekend.

Two of the participants have now tested positive for covid-19 and have been isolated.

So far, 99 people have been quarantined.

– The situation is confusing and there is a high probability that many more people are infected.

This is stated by the municipality in a press release on Friday afternoon.

Expect your test results on Friday night

Hundreds of people, both children and adults, are said to have attended the two meetings.

– With two gatherings of up to 80 people at each meeting last weekend, there could well be more infection, Mayor Jan Kristensen tells NRK.

A response is expected for a large proportion of the test results of those affected by Friday night.

– The test results will show the seriousness of the situation, says Kristensen.

The congregation also has members in the neighboring municipalities of Lindesnes and Hægebostad.

Director and two teachers in quarantine

The infection has also affected a class at Lyngdal Christian Primary School.

The reason is that one of the infected has recently been visiting his classroom.

Both the principal and two teachers of this school have been quarantined and examined.

The municipality’s infection detection team is well on its way to mapping the extent.

– We take all precautions now to avoid further infection, says the mayor.
