Internal bleeding

As the horse fled, the carpenter got out of the carriage behind. Grønnerød says that Sindre Nyeng (23), who has a long experience with horses, had to calm the animal while the 47-year-old had to put the carpenters in their place.

– The horse moved, and you can imagine how many hundreds of kilos of horse and wood there are. The logs fly straight up my leg and I bounce to the side, she says.

Grønnerød said he quickly felt bad and realized something was wrong.

– I couldn’t put my foot on the ground and had to ask the Red Cross for help. They put an ice pack on me and a bandage and then took me back to the farm, he continues.

But after great pain, Grønnerød had to go to the hospital for an X-ray and a medical check-up.

– It was determined that he had a bleeding in a muscle, and that he had to give him a couple of days with painkillers to see if it would pass on its own.

According to Grønnerød, he alternately had to cut the muscle to drain the blood, if the body couldn’t do it on its own. Fortunately, she escaped, but says the injury she sustained was very painful.

– I was very lucky. If they had put the sticks on me, it would have been bad, he says.

As mentioned above, Sindre Nyeng was also present when Grønnerød was injured. He is relieved that she did so well.

– It’s boring when something like this happens, but I’m glad it went so well considering the effort it took. We’ve seen countless incidents that ended worse than this one, so I’m glad it went well, he says.

Inger Cecilie Grønnerød says she is still bothered by the damage she suffered on the farm, but that she hopes it will happen over time and that she has only stepped on and twisted her leg incorrectly as a result of the pain.

The press officer for “Farmen” on TV 2, Alex Iversen, says the participant was quickly helped when the accident occurred.

– Since she had foot pain, they sent her for a check-up in the emergency room, she says.
