Several of the defendants have previously been convicted of serious drug-related crimes. Some of them also do not have legal residence in Norway.

– Cannabis and pills have been seized and drugs sold for several million crowns, says Yngve Myrvoll in the Troms police district.

There is a core of five people on whom the research has focused the most.

– So it’s organized crime as part of the business. The final indictment will be issued by the prosecutor, Myrvoll says.

– Has provided youth

Frank Sletten is the Harstad Police Chief.

– What we register is that the organized network has been a drug artery in Harstad. They have provided drugs to the young people here. Collaboration with the municipality has been important, and it is important in the future, he says.

Several of the detainees have lived in asylum reception centers in Bodø and Harstad.

Two of the targets are the local residents of Harstad. Three others are connected to Harstad and have different foreign origins. The 11 sieves are between 20 and 50 years old.

Dangerous pills

The investigation has been ongoing since 2015 when the first case was created.

– The police have a toolbox that we don’t like to talk about. The most traditional is wiretapping and reconnaissance, which are also used in this case, Myrvoll says.

The targets have had different roles. The five in Harstad are charged primarily with reselling, while two people who were arrested in Oslo are said to have been the culprits.

As for the seized pills, Myrvoll says they are preparations that had previously been warned against.

– Such pills are very scary with the substance abuse that we see, says Myrvoll.
